Following on from the success of the Inaugural “Mission Idea Contest”, The University Space Engineering Consortium in collaboration with The University of Tokyo are pleased to announce the Second Annual Mission Idea Contest.

The Mission Idea Contest was established last year to provide aerospace engineers, college students, consultants, and anybody interested in space with opportunities to present their creative ideas and gain attention internationally. The primary goal of this contest is to open a door to a new facet of space exploration and exploitation.

The purpose of the Mission Idea Contest is to encourage innovative explorations of micro and nano satellites to provide useful capabilities, services, or data. Applications are sought, in the form of an abstract, from aerospace engineers, students, consultants, and anyone else interested in space. This is a wonderful opportunity for Australian companies and individuals to gain international exposure.

Finalists will be invited to present in Japan at the 4th Nano-satellite symposium
(Nagoya, Japan on October 10-13, 2012). There will also be two awards: IAA Award and a Student Prize.
The best papers will be published in a peer-reviewed journal (TBR).

There are two categories in the competition:
  1. Mission idea and satellite design
  2. Mission idea and business model

More information on the categories and on how to enter is available at http://www.spacemic.net/index.html

Applications must be submitted by the 1st of May 2012.
