Aerial imagery provider nearmap.com has recently finished capturing 5,000 sq km of high-resolution photo maps over Western Australia’s north-west section.
The capture includes some major developmental hot spots in the area, including Barrow Island (home to the $43 billion Gorgon Project), Karratha, Dampier, Burrup Peninsula, James Price Point (gas precinct), Onslow's Ashburton North facility (Wheatstone project), South Hedland, Port Hedland, Roebourne, Cape Lambert and Broome.
Nearmap.com CEO Simon Crowther said “It’s well known that there’s a huge amount of development going on in WA, but it’s not until you see the images that you really start to appreciate the scale.
“For projects in extremely remote places like the Gorgon project, nearmap.com’s images offer one of the only feasible means to view the developments.
“With so many projects currently underway in WA, we’re getting interest from developers and government who want to use our technology to closely monitor and report on their multi-billion dollar projects.”
Nearmap.com’s annual license model, and rapid turn-around on image capture, enable companies to access the most recent maps of a particular licensed region, which is a major benefit for developers and governments managing rapidly progressing projects.
