This short course is designed for professional surveyors wishing to incorporate GPS/GNSS techniques into their survey practices (with some emphasis on cadastral surveying), however, it is also suitable for allied professionals looking to up-skill their knowledge.
Dr Craig Roberts and Mr Simon McElroy (Land & Property Information) will present the two-day course at the Kensington UNSW Campus commencing Thursday 16 February.
The course will present an overview of the basics of GPS/GNSS for surveyors followed by some theory on how GPS/GNSS and RTK-GPS works, discussion of major error sources, and tips on practical use and avoiding pitfalls, and adherence to the new regulations.
Network-RTK, CORSnet-NSW and techniques to use this modern infrastructure will be presented. Hands-on exercises will help surveyors better utilise a range of free online GPS services available to them. A new section dealing with all the modern GNSS signals; GPS L1, L2C, L5, Glonass FDMA & CDMA, Galileo E1, E5, Compass, QZSS, etc; and their impact on high precision, real-time surveying will be given.
The major GNSS instrument vendors will be invited to showcase their latest equipment for the delegates.
