Australia’s largest provider of GIS technology and location intelligence solutions is set to showcase how their world-leading software is changing the business of organisations across the nation.

Esri Australia’s Ozri conference, running from the12 - 14 October, will feature presentations from Australia’s leading geo-enabled businesses, councils and government agencies, and will examine some of the most compelling projects undertaken in recent times.

Ozri 2011 will showcase the latest developments across the Esri software suite and cover topics like: how to prepare for Gov 2.0; how to deploy enterprise-wide mobile solutions; how to store, manage and analyse imagery effectively; as well as how ArcGIS can be integrated into other business systems - such as SAP. There will also be best practice sessions on topical areas like web services, geodatabases, cartography, social media maps and LiDAR.

Shannon Browne, the GIS Administrator at Westralia Airport Corporation (Perth Airport), is a long-time proponent of Ozri, having attended the conference in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

“It’s great to see a huge room full of GIS professionals from all sorts of different professions sharing, learning and discovering together,” Mr Browne said.

"I’m always keen to learn more about interesting applications of GIS in new industries and seeing how GIS is evolving."

Kenneth Melchert, Manager Geospatial Solutions at Townsville City Council’s Knowledge Management Department, said his Council also regularly attends the conference.

“We have gained great value from attending previous Ozri conferences particularly through the technical presentations and the practical applications of GIS technology presented by our peers,” he said.

The unique networking opportunities built into the conference program enables GIS users to connect with regional and international counterparts - providing them with the opportunity to share their technical knowledge and experiences.

Steve Elliott, the GIS Officer at Bass Coast Shire Council, described Ozri as an ideal opportunity to network with key industry players, colleagues and GIS specialists.

"Ozri is a fantastic event to discover how others are using the technology," he said. “The information sessions and trade displays are an invaluable source of information.”

Registration to the conference is now open - the Early Bird special, which saves delegates more than $200, is available until 5 August.

Register online now to go into the draw to win an iPad 2.
